A good album,the verve at their best,

Forth The Verve My first Verve CD, liked most of the tunes. The last track however has a 3 1/2 minute gap just before the end where there is no sound at all.

The Verve stick with their original sound on this one, which is great. All of the tracks are rather good, and the album is good for a short drive somewhere just to get your blood pumping for where you gotta be. Richard Ashcroft is a legend and there's no doubt about that. Plus, for a bargain deal like this, you'd be wrong not to purchase it!

２００７年、１０年ぶり２回目の突然の再結成アナウンスがあり、これがリリースされツアーで日本にも来た彼ら。ノーザンソウルで一度頂点を極めた同じ布陣だけに期待してしまう。正直、ノーザンソウルまでとは時代も彼らの年齢も違う。ここであのゴツイ、サウンドとテンションが取り戻せていたら凄いのだが・・・と聴き進むうちに、しかしこれは大健闘なのでは？と思うに至った。最初の数曲はリリース当時の流行も取り入れつつの彼らの「あれ」がうまく演奏される。ギターがフェンダー系なのも新鮮。声も若干細く感じるがこれはライブを聴く限りスタジオの加減だとおもう。リズム隊は相変わらずコクがある。まったりとした横のりで中盤まで行くが、そこいらで本領が発揮される。サイケなジャムに突入するともう彼ら独自の世界だ。このアルバムの素材を制作時、おそらくはしばらくこの面子でバンドをやるつもりだったはずだ。そういった「全部出し切ってない」余裕というか、隙間がいいところかもしれない。しかし残念ながらこのあと彼らは解散、この後が気になる。その点が星４個の理由。あとは申し分ない。疲れた時なんかに聴くとまたやる気になってくる。また彼らの気が向いたらこの先を聴かせてほしい。
