Is it OK that my cartridge is brown/gray?

The color of the cartridge material may vary from white to gray and slightly yellow depending on the batch and conditions it was stored and shipped in but it does not affect its efficiency. It's not a sign of a used/dirty cartridge but a natural color of basalt: we don't use any chemicals, coloring, or bleach to whiten the material. This is to ensure our materials are environmentally friendly.  Basalt fiber may leave a small amount of dust on the plastic surface, that's absolutely harmless and you can wipe it with a soft cloth.

Can you use this in the car?

As Evapolar devices are energy-efficient, they can be powered from a car power outlet with a capacity of at least 2A 5V.
Please, note that the device won't cool down the temperature in the entire vehicle, but it will generate a nice cool and humid breeze directly for the person sitting nearby.
This personal air cooler can be used during stops as well as when the car is in motion. However, please, take into account that during driving the water tank of the Evapolar must be no more than three-quarters full to avoid spillage in case of sudden jolts or sharp turns of the car. Also, it should be placed on a smooth horizontal surface.

How much water does it hold and will it run for 8 hours? If it runs out of water does it shut down?

When the tank runs out of water, the device continues to work as a normal fan, without a cooling effect.
The device is equipped with a 33.8oz/1000ml water tank, this allows the device to work for up to 8 hours at medium speed. And if you fill the tank, wait a couple of minutes until it is absorbed, and add more water, you can increase the operating time up to 9 hours.
